Cellulite Removal Tips

Women all across the world stare at their hips and thighs trying to wish away their cellulite. However, cellulite is for the most part genetic and affects nearly 90% of women. Up until recently, medical science labeled cellulite as a natural process in the women’s body. This theory prompted very little scientific research and even less development for treatments. Today there are home remedies, surgical procedures, and creams for cellulite removal. The home remedies provide more minimal results with a shorter duration of improvement, but with continued use can result in a reduction of noticeable cellulite.

One popular home remedy to remove cellulite is the use of caffeine. Simply mix coffee and hot water together, rub onto the affected area, and wrap in plastic wrap for several minutes before washing the mixture off. It is recommended that this be done twice a week. Another popular at home method is to use a soft bristled brush and rub the cellulite in a circular motion. Both the caffeine and the rubbing methods stimulate the cells causing them to expand. This expansion reduces the dimply appearance of the cellulite, but will ultimately wear off.

How To Remove Cellulite: Liposuction vs Mesotherapy

While liposuction is the most commonly known surgical procedure for cellulite removal, a newer technique, mesotherapy, has earned a title as the most effect in removing the unwanted cellulite.

Liposuction is a procedure to remove unwanted fat between the skin and the muscles, but its technique has little to no effect on cellulite. Often times it worsens the appearance due to the lax skin that the procedure leaves behind, and the fact that the procedure cannot remove fat from the location of the cellulite. Liposuction removes fat in deeper areas of the skin whereas cellulite is located closer to the surface. This qualifies liposuction to be the candidate for superficial fat removal, but not to aid in smoothing the skin.

However, mesotherapy is used for spot weight reduction and the elimination of cellulite in the trouble zones. It works by dissolving the dimples and lumpy areas of fat. The procedure is carried out by injecting medications directly onto the areas with cellulite. Through the use of a local anesthesia application prior to the treatment, the needles are virtually painless. The simplicity of the procedure as well as the aftermath makes this much more convenient as opposed to liposuction. Patients are able to return home the same day of the procedure and return to work and their daily lives the following morning. Minor swelling or soreness may be present, yet these side effects normally last only 1 to 3 days. However, mesotherapy often requires multiples doses of the injected medication to produce the desired results. Most doctors who perform mesotherapy for cellulite reduction recommend receiving one dose per week for 10 to 15 weeks. More or less time may be needed depending on the individual’s needs.

Natural Cellulite Removal

The concepts of caffeine and rubbing for cellulite removal are also available in a more advanced form through store bought cellulite removal creams and massagers. Non-invasive topical creams have been shown to produce dramatic results in many of its users. This safe alternative to surgical procedures contains natural ingredients to attack the cellulite in a variety of ways.

Caffeine, as used in the home remedies, reduces subcutaneous fluid as well as stimulates the cells.Shea butter is a skin toner that firms the area which causes less of the cellulite cells to appear noticeable through the skin. The final main ingredient, which as also the most recently discovered, is peptide molecules. These molecules stimulate collagen production to smooth away the cellulite. Using a cream that utilizes these proven ingredients will show results with continued use.

Another common, yet less effective procedure for cellulite removal is the use of vibrating massagers. The theory behind them is that the stimulation produced by the vibration will break up the fat cells. This will reduce the dimpled cellulite and result in more smooth skin. While in theory this may hold to be true, to effectively get rid of cellulite a more active approach must be taken. However, if the cellulite remover creams and massaging are combined with a healthier diet and routine exercise, the appearance of cellulite will reduce in a more natural and permanent way.
