Make Up Tips

Some of the best makeup tips for beginners are the ones that my Grandmother gave to me way back when I started wearing makeup. She told me that to look well-groomed and attractive a woman didn't need to be rich or wear expensive clothes, but she did have to do a few simple things. First, wash her face. Next, brush both her hair and teeth. Finally, and most importantly, a lady should always wear lipstick and powder because she never knew who she might run into! She never did wear any more than that and she really did always look well-groomed and attractive even well into her eighties! I didn't stay completely true to her simplistic regimen as I got older, but I have found through much experience and expense that she was right. You don't need to wear costly clothing or a lot of cosmetics to look good.

The first thing on her list really was the most important one. Washing your face not only cleanses it, which is a very healthy thing to do, but it also prepares your face for putting on whatever makeup you choose much as artists prepare canvases before they paint a materpiece on them!

Brushing your hair and teeth were the next items on her list and they are on mine, as well. If you do both of them before beginning to apply your makeup, then neither one will interfere with or erase what you are about to put on your face.

Another thing that I like to make sure is clean before I start putting on my makeup is my hands. There is nothing more aggravating than wiping a small smudge of makeup off of your nose, for instance, and finding out that before you started applying your makeup you happened to have gotten ink on your fingers!

There is one more step in being prepared before you start putting on your cosmetics. If the item of clothing that you are going to wear after putting on your makeup involves pulling that same item over your head or facial area in any way after it is applied, put it on before you put your makeup on! I know that the reason you probably didn't want to do that in the first place was because you are a little bit unsure of your makeup application capabilities and you didn't want to get cosmetics on your clothing, but it will be easier by far to put a towel around you to cover your clothing than it would be to completely redo your makeup because you smeared it when you pulled your shirt on over your head!

Now that you are completely prepared for your makeup session, think about the impression that you want to make on those who will be seeing you after you put your makeup on! I know that you have heard the old expression about the fact that you don't get a second chance to make a first impression, and though it may sound a little corny, it's also true!

Now it's finally time to give you the real makeup tips portion of this article! Choose makeup that is affordable for your budget! Purchasing the most expensive brand of cosmetics will not guarantee that they will make you look any more attractive than the less expensive brands that very often work just as well or better.

When you are selecting colors, accept the advice of the manufacturer. Their business involves making women look more attractive and the better they make us look, the more of their products we will buy. They generally give great suggestions on how to apply their products for different looks, as well.

Most brands also furnish suggestions as to what will compliment your personal coloring as far as skin tone, eye color and hair color. The last of the makeup tips for beginners that I have is to encourage you to use your own two eyes. Use them to look at style magazines, celebrities, your friends, your teachers, your siblings and yes, even your Mom and Grandmother for ideas, advice and inspiration on how to accomplish the look you want to have when you make your first impression.
